Grandpa Harold's Funeral November 2011

This has been a rough year a far as deaths in the family go. We lost Grandma-Great, Great-Uncle Steve, Grandpa Brewer, Grandpa Ballinger, and Great-Grandpa Harold. That's a lot of funerals for a 14 month period of time. I'm very proud to say that all 4 of the men we lost were buried with military honors! Grandma-Great was honored for her great work the the Deaf and Blind schools. What honorable lives all my elders made.

Grandpa Harold will be remembered not only for being ridiculously frugal but also for being incredibly kind. He was a tease, a joker, and a prankster until the very end. You will notice that most of us only have on light jackets and no hats or gloves. The grass was showing as we walked into the funeral home but by the time we left it was a blizzard. It was almost as if Grandpa were teasing us with the weather.

I love the sound of Taps music. Each time I hear it I am overwhelmed with pride and patriotism.

Jonny (13 Years Old) was a pall bearer. He is the oldest of the great-great-grandchildren. There was a pall bearer from each generation carrying his casket.

Jonny's Induction to the National Junior Honor's Society

Jonny, I am so proud of you and your friends. Thank you for being such blessing in my life. I am so proud of you joining National Junior Honor's Society. I am so glad that you maintain a 4.0 GPA and you do it on your own! You require little supervision and make good choices. You volunteer at the Elementary school and for Sub-for-Santa. You, Jonny, are a great kid! You say now that you want to be a Surgeon or a Dentist when you grow up. Keep up the good work and I know you'll have that doctorate someday. ;)

Shufflebot - Halloween 10/31/2011

Okay, you've heard me talk about how random and creative Alex is... this year for Halloween he wanted to be the Shufflebot. The Shufflebot is a dancing robot in the band LMFAO's music videos. The robot does a dance move called "shuffling". Most 10 years old want to be vampires or pirates... mine wants to wear a box on his head. Alex I Love You!

Florida Vacation October 2011

For Fall Break 2011 I decided to take the boys to Florida. I figured that ages 13 and 10 are the PERFECT ages to visit the Universal Theme Parks... Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Marvel Comics, Men in Black, ET... all the things that boys love wrapped up in one big vacation.

We took along my cousin Katy to help even out our numbers. What a great travel companion! On this trip we hit Universal Studios Orlando, Islands of Adventure Orlando, Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa Beach, Hard Rock Cafe, Sea World, Downtown Disney, and Pirates Cove. Needless to say- the boys had SOOOO much fun they talk about it all the time. Awesome, awesome memories!

Feedin' Seagulls

Seagulls are nasty, ugly birds. They belong at the ocean and not in Utah! In case your wondering, I really don't like seagulls. However I do like spending quality time with Lex. The other day while Jonny was hanging out with friends, Lex and I took a trip to Commons Park to feed the birds. We walked the entire length of the park (which is way bigger than I thought it was), played at the park, feed the ducks, and chased the seagulls. We also found a seagulls nest on the side of the pond. Two eggs didn't make it, the other two birds had just hatched. Good times - just me & my buddy.

Planking!! Joining In on the Trend.... HA HA

Chalk Art Festival

On our way home from Summer Games in Cedar City we went to the Gateway Mall for the Chalk Art Festival which is a charity benefiting Foster Care in Utah. Since we went around lunch time, many of the 100's of peices were still works in progress...but it is AMAZING to see what some of these people can do with chalk!

Grandpa Brewer's Funeral

My Grandpa Brewer passed away Friday, May 27, 2011. I am really going to miss him. I will remember the farm, the tractor rides, Easter Egg hunts, Christmases, Thanksgiving dinners, war stories, and his infectious smile. I love you sooo much Grandpa.

At his funeral I read life sketch/obituary. I shook the whole time because I was trying not to cry.

The funeral itself was beautiful. Beautiful stories told about an beautiful person. He was buried with military honors for his service in the Navy during WWII where was a member of the Blue Raiders. There was a also a Highland bagpipe service and 21-gun salute. Grandpa was laid to rest by Grandma Florence...reunited after about 45 years.
