Halloween

For Halloween this year, Jonny was the Grim Reaper and Lex was a Zombie. Their costumes were pretty scary. In the afternoon we went to Grandma-Great's Assisted Living center for trick-or-treating. Then we went to Grandma Cindy's/Grampa LJ's house to carve pumpkins. Finally we went trick-or-treating again to see Gramps & Grandma Bob.

In this picture are Jonny & Alex; Trevor, Caleb & Anna; and Isaac Martinez (a friend).

After the kids had their fun, I went out to a costume party @ a club in Salt Lake City with Lupita & Raul. Lupita was a gypsy, Raul was Phantom of the Opera, and I was Amy Winehouse. I looked exactly like her when I first got ready. My beehive fell throughout the night though. I guess I should have used Aqua Net. ;-)

These Smurfette's won the costume contest! The deserved it- they painted themselves completely BLUE!

A Rude Awakening & Dressing for the Occasion

This morning I woke up to Alex yelling.

"MOM!!! Come quick!!! Something really bad has happened!"

So, of course, I throw off the covers & go running to his room. I am thinking I am going to find something broken or a dead hermit crab, or perhaps even worse!

But, as I reach his room I see that he has pulled his blinds all the way open and is pointing out the window at the horrible, horrible mess outside. SNOW!!! First snowfall of the year- Blah! :0(

----

So, the morning continues. I tell Lex to put his coat on so that I can drive him to school. He comes back downstairs wearing three T-shirts, a long sleeve shirt, his brown dress sweater, and a camo hoodie over the top. He says, "Ok. I know it's cold so I broke out the heavy artillery."

I ask him, "Why don't you go back upstairs, take all of that off, and just put on your coat?"

His reply, "Because I will stupid in my coat if no one else is wearing one."

So I say, "Umm, HELLO!?!?! You look pretty stupid right now with 5 layers on!!! Go change." What a morning!!!

The Empire State

"In New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of...", Alicia Keys

The last weekend of October, I took a much needed "therapy" trip to NYC. Lupita, BreAnna, and me left for a weekend of shopping, sightseeing, and dancing. It was sooo much fun. Lupita took about 200 pictures, but since it would take forever to upload them all here are a few:

Swine Flu

My poor little Jonny is sick, sick, sick! It started with a headache. The headache progressed into a "every muscle in my body" ache. Next came the 102-103 fever for 3 days...then coughing, runny nose, and "Let me Sleep!"

I took Jonny into the doctor today and he is positive for SWINE FLU!!!

To help do our part in slowing the spread of the virus, we wear surgical masks when we leave the house so we don't infect others. Jonny's doctor told him that he can not go to school for a week. (WHY DO THE PARENT'S HAVE TO BE GROUNDED FOR A WEEK???)

Joint B-Day

Will & I have birthdays just 10 days apart. On the Sunday in between we went to my mom's house for a yummy Sunday dinner.

One of the bestest parts of my birthday was getting to play with Princess Lainey. She has an amazing gift. Holding her calms me... alot!! She is staring at her cousin Jonny:

Jonny said that he feels a special connection to Lainey because Lauren was 11 years old when he was born. And, he was 11 years old when Lainey was born:

Obviously she has a connection with Jonny too. See her signing that Jonny is #1. :0)

Doubly Important

Jonny is a pretty typical growing boy. He likes to eat a bowl of cereal EVERY night before bed. I don't mind because otherwise he wakes up in the middle of the night hungry.

Last night he was pouring himself a bowl of Cookie-Crisp -

Me: "Sugary cereal isn't good for you at bed time, hun."

Jonny: "Uh-huh. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And, I think it is sooo doubly important that I eat it twice."

Lex's Watermelon

Well, one of the benefits of living in Utah is that you can grow produce. Lex wanted to grow an apple tree in the back yard, but settled for putting watermelon seeds in my parent's yard. Surprisingly, he actually grew 2 large watermelons!!! He didn't plant them until late in the season, so they probably could have used a little more time on the vine. Unfortunately the frost came early this year so we had to bring them inside. I don't care for watermelon, but Lex tells me his watermelon was DELICIOUS!

Doom's Day at RMR

For the 2nd year in a row we went to the Doom's Day celebration at Rocky Mountain Raceway! It's a fun way to spend labor day. We love the trailer races. It is soooo funny to watch the demolition of the trailers.
