For Trevor's 11th birthday, we joined him at Spare Time for some birthday bowling. The boys (Jonny, Lex, Trevor, Caleb, and their cousin) played on one lane. Will, Michel, Mike, Anna, & me played on another. Fun Fun.

Camping @ Causey August 2009
The weekend school started we decided to camp overnight somewhere. Usually we have just been up to the campgrounds to make dinner. I don't love camping at all. I am more of a Four Seasons kind of girl...but the family time is the most important part.

Lex's Perspective on Cartoons
Today the boys and I went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. I wanted some home cookin' with out having to be home cookin'.
As we are waiting for our food we are looking at the decor on the walls which is all from the old days. Jonny makes me feel really old by asking me if I had T.V. when I was little. I tell him that YES! there was T.V. when I was little.
Alex asks me what I used to watch on T.V. when I was little. I tell him that I used to watch a lot of cartoons. Alex inquisitively asks me what cartoons I used to watch. I rattle of a list to him, Care Bears, Garfield, Flintstones, Yogi Bear, He-Man, etc. Finally on my list I tell him that one of the favorites that I used to watch was the Smurfs.
"What are Smurfs?" Lex asks me.
"They are little blue creatures that live in mushrooms." I tell him.
Jonny adds, "I've seen Smurfs. They have a leader Smurf that wears red pants. His name is Papa Smurf."
Lex asks, "Oh, so what is Papa Smurf's ability?"
I tell him that Smurfs don't have abilities.
Lex balks, "Then WHY in the Earth would you watch them???"
Funny!

We're MEN - Farmington Canyon
So- A few times this summer, we've gone up to Farmington Canyon to have hobo dinners. It's fun to 1/2 camp...that is just to go up the canyon, find a camp ground, make a fire & have dinner & s'mores.
Jonny, aka Mr. Picky Eater, actually likes hobo dinners. Hobo dinners consist of hamburger, onions, carrots, and potatos wrapped in foil. You cook them in right in the fire on the hot embers. He gets really excited to cook his food in the fire.
It's funny. The first time we went to go up the canyon, Will had started packing the picnic. He did a great job of getting the food together, but had forgotten a few of the details...like utensils. Jonny said that they didn't need them. His exact words were more like ... "We don't need forks...WE'RE MEN." And, "We don't need tongs for the fire..."WE'RE MEN."
